FALL 2011 EVENTS
Plucker's in West Campus
November 22, 5-11 pm
Have dinner at Plucker's in West Campus to help Texas Dance go to Nationals in Daytona, Florida! If you tell your waiter that you are there for Texas Dance, a portion of your bill will go towards our trip to represent UT in Florida. Members of Texas Dance will be at Plucker's throughout the evening, happy to tell you more about our team! We would love to see everyone there!
(Note: Alcohol sales and purchases by Plucker's Club members do not count toward the fundraiser)
It costs a pretty penny to send 22 dancers to Florida, and everything we don't earn through fundraisers and sponsorships, we finance ourselves. These expenses include registration, hotel rooms, plane tickets, costumes, transportation from the airport and around Daytona, and food while we are there. Anything you can help with is appreciated.
If you would like to contribute to our team by becoming a Sponsor, please email Lindsey Ventura here
26th Annual Hex Rally
Main Mall, in front of the UT Tower
Texas Dance won a performance in Hex Rally! We entered a competition for Facebook "like"s from Texas Exes Student Chapter members against Steel Dance Company and Redefined Dance Company. Each of the teams submitted a preview video, and the video with the most "like"s from TESC members won. Thanks to your views of our video, support, and "like"s, we have earned our position!
Hex Rally is the pep rally before the annual Thanksgiving Texas/Texas A&M football game. It started in 1941, when Longhorn fans lit red candles in an attempt to break a losing streak at Texas A&M's Kyle Field. The Longhorns beat #2 ranked Texas A&M 23-0, and we have been lighting red candles before this game ever since. The rally features performances from Texas Cheer and Pom, The Longhorn Band, and TEXAS DANCE, and words from Coach Mack Brown, Coach "Mad Dog" Madden, and two Longhorn football players. We hope you will come to Hex Rally to watch the performances and get the Longhorn football team ready for their game in College Station!
High School Clinic
Join Texas Dance for a day of dancing tailored toward high school students! The clinic is open to all dancers in 9th - 12th grade. We will do some technique across the floor, and team members will teach a Hip Hop routine, and Jazz routine, and a third routine, style to be determined. Family and Friends are invited to join us at 1 pm and watch their dancers perform what they learned. Registration fee and more detailed information will be made available as it is decided. We hope to see all of you there!

November 8, 5 - 10 pm
Chili's Grill and Bar at 45th and Lamar
Enjoy dinner at the Chili's on 45 and Lamar and help Texas Dance raise money to represent The University of Texas at NDA's Collegiate National Dance Competition this spring! All you have to do is show up for dinner and when it's time to pay, tell your waiter that you are there to support The University of Texas Dance Team. We receive 10% of whatever sales are made that night from Texas Dance supporters. As always, thank you for support! We hope to see you at Chili's!
We hope you brought the kids in their costumes to see Texas Dance perform at Longhorn Halloween! Longhorn Halloween is a fun and safe Halloween carnival put on for children of UT Austin faculty, staff, and students. Admission is free and the event features games, face painting, a haunted house, a fire truck, and more! We performed two routines and stayed after for pictures with the kids. It was great to see all the children in their costumes and get more involved in the UT community.
AHA Start! Heart Walk
The American Heart Association's Start! Heart Walk is an annual non-competitive 5K walking event designed to bring public awareness to physical activity and a heart-healthy lifestyle, while raising critical dollars needed to fund the lifesaving mission of the American Heart Association. Texas Dance was at the starting line to support the walkers, and performed two routines. Heart complications are so common and we were happy to participate in this event!
Charming Charlie Meet-and-Greet and Fundraiser
Charming Charlie at the Domain
Texas Dance hosted a meet-and-greet and fundraiser at Charming Charlie at the Domain. Team members hung out at the store to meet with dancers and promote our upcoming clinic for high school students. Also, shoppers who donated to Texas Dance received a discount on their purchase. We appreciate everyone for coming to support us and enjoyed meeting with you. We hope to see all the eligible dancers we met at our clinic in November! Congratulations to the winner of the raffle for free clinic registration!

SUMMER 2011 EVENTS
SPRING 2011 EVENTS
National Dance Alliance Collegiate Camp
July 22 – 24
Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX
Each summer Texas Dance heads to Dallas for NDA's Collegiate Camp. In three days we learned a camp jazz/hip hop/pom routine, and a "Gameday" routine, as well as two routines each dancer chose from a variety of styles and difficulty levels. This camp prepared teams for the year ahead, and the final performance is a competition for a bid to Nationals in Daytona Beach, FL in April. Our performance earned us a bronze bid, and we had one All-American dancer and two nominees. Congratulations to Katherine LeStage
on being an All-American dancer, and to Kismet Cuellar
and Taylor Johnston
on being nominated. We are lucky to have such talented dancers on our team and cannot wait for what this year brings!
University of Texas Student Activities Center Auditorium
Spring Show is an opportunity for the members of Texas Dance to show off our individuals styles. Many members choreograph routines for the team or small groups, including solos. After the stress of Nationals, Spring Show is a chance for us to do whatever we choose and perform for our friends and family. Information on the date and location will become available closer to show time. We hope to see you there!
At the end of each spring semester and the beginning of each fall semester, Texas Dance holds auditions in hopes to welcome new dancers to our team. All process details, as well as a letter from our director, can be found on the Auditions page. We look forward to seeing you there!
NDA National Competition
April 6 – 10
Daytona Beach, FL
The highlight of our season, Texas Dance traveled to Daytona Beach, FL for National Dance Alliance's National Collegiate Competition. We worked our whole year for this weekend. Thank you for all of your support for our trip to the Sunshine State! We placed 3rd of six teams in Challenge Cup.
American Dance/Drill Team Nationals
University of North Texas, Denton, TX
Texas Dance traveled to UNT to compete in American Dance/Drill Team's Nationals competition. This was our first of two Nationals performances, and critiques are helping us prepare for our trip to Daytona Beach, FL. Before our performance we had a booth in the colosseum where interested students visited with us and got information about our team for the upcoming school year. We loved seeing our parents and friends in Denton and thank you for your support. Texas Dance placed third among Texas Christian University Elite, University of North Texas Pom, and Southern Methodist University.
