Marissa is a proud 3rd year member of the University of Texas Dance Team and she is blessed to be a part of such a talented group of dancers! In addition to being on the verge of completing her junior year, this Longhorn is also a former Character Performer for the Walt Disney World Entertainment Company. She spent her fall 2008 semester creating magical moments for children and adults alike from around the world. Before Marissa was a Longhorn, she was a Maverick at the University of Texas at Arlington. There she danced with the UTA Pom Squad for the 2006-2007 season. She graduated class of 2006 from Cedar Park High School, where she served as a 1st Lieutenant and then Captain of the Celebrities Dance Team. Although Marissa was introduced to the discipline of dance through a drill team setting when she was twelve, she maintains that she didn’t fall in love with the art form until she started to perform modern choreography the following year. A decade later and she is now an accomplished competitor as well as talented performer with numerous competitions and camps under her belt including American Dance/Drill, MA Dance, Walt Disney World’s Contest of Champions, Universal Dance Association (UDA) and National Dance Alliance (NDA). Marissa is well versed in jazz, lyrical, modern and hip-hop dance; she is very drawn to what kind of story any choreography has to offer through the movement. In her spare time, she enjoys reading the news, listening to music, watching anything dance on Youtube and catching up with her favorite people from all over the world on Skype. Her plans for the future are simple: to get a job that allows her to travel and see the world through different perspectives. To her, the possibilities always seem endless. Marissa is so excited about her team this year! She continues to be amazed and impressed every practice with the talent and work ethic each member displays. Here comes NDA College Nationals 2010! Hook ‘em Horns!
