This is Selina’s first year on the Dance Team. She has been dancing for 16 years and began at the age of 2. She started dancing at Mrs. Mckenszie’s dance studio until the age of 12 and then went on to dance in high school for Mrs. Rod who is the dance instructor and director for the Dance Company at Del Rio High School where Selina was a member for two years. She was also in the Queen City Belles Drill Team for four years at Del Rio High, where she held the positions of Social Officer her sophomore year, Lieutenant for junior year, and Captain her senior year. Selina loves all styles of dance, but her favorites are Hip-Hop, Lyrical, and Modern. As a member of the Queen City Belles she participated at the Showmakers of America camps and competitions. During her senior year she performed a solo at the spring competition for SMA. Selina has received numerous dance awards including All-Star Dancer throughout all her years in high school. She was invited to perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in New York City, the Capitol One Bowl in Florida, and the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. She was also named Belle of The Year her junior year and was awarded the Director’s Award her senior year. Selina’s plan after she graduates from UT is to earn a B.A. in Dance and become a dance director for a High School Dance Team and own a dance studio to teach others to have a passion for dance like she does. Selina hopes to finish her years at UT with the Dance team, she enjoys dancing and being with the girls and hopes that the team makes it to the finals at nationals in Florida this spring.
